Congratulations to Sriharsha Ramaraju on being awarded a $438,349 grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for the project “Integrating Microstructural Growth Models with Preclinical Data to Advance Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia Patch Repair.”
The project addresses a major surgical challenge in newborns with congenital diaphragmatic hernias by developing a computational model that predicts how mesh patches used for repair will perform as a child grows. By integrating data from animal studies, laboratory experiments, and human tissue samples, the research aims to better understand why current repair patches frequently fail and help surgeons identify more effective materials before surgery.
