Stas

Please join us in welcoming Stanislav (Stas) Emelianov, PhD, to a new role—Co-Director of the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Pediatric Technology Center (PTC) at Georgia Tech. He will work with Wilbur Lam, MD, PhD, to lead the work of the PTC.

Since 2015, Dr. Emelianov has worked at Georgia Tech as Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and at Georgia Tech and Emory University School of Medicine as Professor of Biomedical Engineering. He is also the Joseph M. Pettit Endowed Chair and Georgia Research Alliance Eminent Scholar at Georgia Tech. Prior to joining Georgia Tech and Emory, Dr. Emelianov worked at the University of Texas in Austin and at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. Previously, he was a researcher at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Dr. Emelianov’s research interests include diagnostic imaging and patient-specific image-guided therapeutics.

As a reminder, the Children’s PTC at Georgia Tech brings clinical experts from Children’s together with Georgia Tech scientists and engineers to develop technological solutions to problems in the health and care of children. Children’s PTC provides extraordinary opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration in pediatrics, creating breakthrough discoveries that often can only be found at the intersection of multiple disciplines. These collaborations also allow us to bring discoveries to the clinic and the bedside, thereby enhancing the lives of children and young adults. The mission of the PTC is to establish the world’s leading program in the development of technological solutions for children’s health, focused on three strategic areas that will have a lasting impact on Georgia’s kids and beyond.

As we welcome Dr. Emelianov to this new role, we also want to thank M.G. Finn, PhD, for his years of leadership and work with the PTC. Dr. Finn will continue to lead the Georgia Tech Pediatric Innovation Network.

We are excited to work with Dr. Emelianov in this new capacity, and grateful for the hard work and guidance Dr. Finn has provided to the PTC.

Sincerely,

Wilbur Lam, MD, PhD
